More Than Just a Name: Citadel Partners

When Citadel Partners’ Managing Partners Scott Morse and Scott Jessen made the decision to start their own firm, the long-time business partners knew that even beyond having a collaborative company culture, they needed a business name that defines who they are as people and as business partners. Creating an identity that stands out from the competition while also serving as the foundation of the company’s operations and brand identity were extremely important to them.

This is the genesis of Citadel Partners.

It was December of 2011 when the duo finalized their decision to leave the big box commercial real estate realm and start their own venture. “We made the choice to leave the global platform because we wanted to blend the best of the institutional and entrepreneurial platforms into our advisory firm and offer clients a more flexible, agile and results-oriented approach,” Jessen says.

There were so many facets of starting a new company that had to be addressed: what will the logo be, where will we office and, most importantly, what are we going to call ourselves, Jessen says.

“We had to dig deep and really examine what our clients say about us while also looking at the most desirable traits that we want in the partners we work with,” Jessen adds. “What we learned is that people think of us as a solutions-based, don’t-give-up-kind of group.”

As the duo considered how to describe that collective warrior’s mentality, they immediately thought of a warship and its citadel, which is where a ship is the most heavily armed and protects its vital systems.

“Once we decided on Citadel, it was just a natural addition to add Partners,” Jessen explains. “We have been partnering on deals for almost three decades and we value serving as partners to our clients. The definition of partners means two parties at risk for a common goal and that exemplifies our style. In the past, we have represented both the institutional and entrepreneurial clients, and we are well versed to serve both forms of corporate ownership.”

The Morse Company was acquired by Colliers where Morse and Jessen built and led top performing teams. Across North Texas, Morse and Jessen see a growing shift in client needs — strategic alignment of real estate with business performance.

2005

Morse and Jessen launched Citadel Partners, moving beyond the old-school broker model to expand advisor consultative skill sets and services. Citadel develops a proprietary methodology to help clients discover the enhanced value and increased business performance benefits from real estate decisions.

2012

Citadel invested in expanding strategic skill sets, including devising a methodology to identify and increase the value benefits from integrated real estate strategies.

2014

Citadel Partners is an established real estate advisory firm providing strategy-based CRE solutions, market insight and expertise, and uncompromised service from its Office and Industrial teams located in Dallas and Fort Worth.
